Customer Review: Buyer Beware – Keep Your Receipts
I purchased this television in November, 2007. After 14 months of problem-free use, it suddenly stopped working one day. I got the “Seven Blinking Lights of Death”, which meant service was required. After one month of testing and replacing boards, my service rep now tells me that the panel is bad. The panel has a two year warranty, so I should be covered, but who needs this much hassle? A $1,500 unit should work longer than 14 months. I will never buy Panasonic again.

I have had my tv for a year and a 4 inch blue shaded line has appeared on the left side of the screen and I called panasonic because I was still under warranty. they set up an appointment with a local repair shop. they sent him some parts to replace but this did not fix it. He called them and told them it did not work so now they’re sending new parts again. but he thinks its the whole screen thats bad. so now this has taken a two weeks to fix it. Read the full post

This set features a 1366 x 768-pixel resolution, 16:9 widescreen aspect ratio, 175-degree viewing angle, brightness rating of 1300 cd/m2 (candela per square meter), and an amazing 10000:1 contrast ratio. (The higher the contrast ratio, the greater a TV’s ability to display subtle color details and not get washed out by ambient room light.) The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

The anti-glare plasma panel offers several protective features to resist burn-in, including auto pixel shift, signal pattern processing, and white screen function. It’s rated for a 60,000-hour panel life (6 hours of usage a day for 27 years). Other features include:

HDMI is a lossless, uncompressed, all-digital audio/video interface to link any audio/video source (such as a set-top box, DVD player, or AV receiver) with your TV–all over a single cable. HDMI supports standard, enhanced or high definition video, plus multi-channel digital audio on a single cable. It supports all ATSC formats–standard (SDTV), enhanced (EDTV), and high (HDTV).

TruSurround XT audio adds three new audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

• Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into ÒfocusÓ during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
• TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
• The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

Component video (also called Y/Pb/Pr) features a three-jack video input, which provides separate connections for luminance (Y), blue color difference (PB) and red color difference (PR). This results in increased bandwidth for color information, resulting in a more accurate picture with clearer color reproduction and less bleeding than you would get with S-Video or composite (RCA yellow video plug) connections. You will need a separate RCA left/right audio cable for sound.

Excellent quality TV. OTA (Over The Air) HD picture looks great. Also has two RF (coax) inputs – one for OTA and one for cable TV. The only downside is the lack of Clear QAM (unscrambled cable HD) signals.
Customer Review: Bad product, not durable
I bought this TV after much research. It looks great, has a great picture and features. HOWEVER, after seven months it is starting to exhibit extreme problems. Plasmas are known to ghost. Typically this memory is not intrusive if you limit your time on channels like ESPN or other channels with tickers or graphics. After seven months this TV ghosts so bad that it has a lingering burn image after watching the loacal TV news. That’s right, the trasitory graphics from local news leaves a ghost image. Even worse the pixels do not release the image and the TV displays red and green noise after the image is gone or in dark scenes DURING A MOVIE. If the movie cuts from bright to dark the pixels don’t release and there is red and green “snow” in all the dark areas. This is after seven months of careful and light use. The money you save for Plasma over LCD is not worth it with this set. I would love to go back and undue this buy. I have a lot of experience with plasmas at work as well as at home. This is the least durable I have ever seen. DO NOT BUY. look at the other reviews that list this same problem. THIS IS A BAD SET.

I love my 42″ tv I purchased it from my local Sam’s club at first I was against buying a plasma and until I got it home didn’t even know I had bought one (smile) until we had the tv on the bed putting the stand together. I said hey this says plasma…. da* I thought we had goten an LCD so I called Sam’s Club and ask to speak a sales associate and ask him do they have the LCD in Philips. he said no only in the plasma.. So I said well I’ll keep it now. The only problem is, it gets hot when your near the tv or in the room (bedroom), but the picture quality is great.. plus I got a hell of a deal and warranty through Sam’s Club tv was $899.00 warranty was maybe $100.00 or less but I got a 5yr warranty through Sam’s and the 2yr through Philips.. What a deal (Smile)
